Junior Infrastructure Engineer

We are looking for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure team and support the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and improvement of Smart Search's internal and platform infrastructure.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their infrastructure career who has experience in IT support, service desk or a similar technical role, and is keen to develop across Microsoft technologies, cloud services, networking, virtualisation, backup, security and automation.

• Provide support for Smart Search's internal IT infrastructure, platform infrastructure, networking and business systems
• Assist with troubleshooting Windows‑based environments, including desktop, server, connectivity and access issues
• Support Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Azure services and related cloud technologies
• Assist with basic networking administration and connectivity troubleshooting
• Support backup, replication, monitoring, patching, upgrades and routine system checks
• Work with the Support Team to help resolve escalated technical issues within agreed SLAs
• Ensure tickets are updated clearly, accurately and in a timely manner
• Follow internal security policies, change management procedures and technical processes
• Contribute to documentation and proactively suggest improvements where appropriate
• Learn from senior engineers and continue developing skills across infrastructure, cloud, networking and security

The successful candidate should have an interest in, or basic understanding of, some of the following technologies:

• Microsoft Technology Stack, including Windows desktop and server environments
• Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and related collaboration tools
• Microsoft Azure and cloud‑based services
• Basic networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, VLANs and switching
• VMware, Hyper‑V or similar virtualisation platforms
• Backup and replication technologies, such as Veeam
• Power Shell scripting, automation or a desire to develop these skills
• Infrastructure security, patching, monitoring and vulnerability management
