Infrastructure Manager

Location: South Yorkshire, United Kingdom (Hybrid – 2/3 days in office)

Contract: 3 months

We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Manager to oversee day-to-day infrastructure operations and act as the senior technical escalation point, helping maintain secure, resilient and reliable services across a Microsoft cloud and on-premise estate. This is a hands‑on operational role with responsibility for coordinating engineers, suppliers and incidents while supporting the Head of Operations.

• Lead and manage a team of four Technical Engineers.
• Own day‑to‑day infrastructure operations and service availability.
• Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex issues.
• Coordinate major incidents and problem management.
• Oversee operational change, patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Manage backup, recovery and service continuity activities.
• Coordinate third‑party suppliers including managed services and SOC providers.
• Support the transition of new services into live operation.
• Provide clear operational updates and risk advice to senior management.

Experience with most of the following is expected:

• Windows Server, Hyper‑V
• End‑user computing
• Microsoft Teams telephony
• Several years leading infrastructure or IT operations teams.
• Strong hands‑on Microsoft infrastructure experience across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Experience managing major incidents and technical escalations.
• Good understanding of ITIL service management.
• Experience managing suppliers and outsourced support partners.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Microsoft certifications.
• Experience with in local government or the public sector.
• Experience with Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001.
• Power Shell or scripting knowledge.
