The Role

We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Stores Manager to oversee the efficient operation of our on-site engineering stores function at a key customer location.

In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will ensure the smooth running of day-to-day engineering stores operations, maintain accurate inventory control, and support engineering and production teams to minimise downtime. You will play a key role in driving cost savings, improving stock efficiency, and strengthening customer relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and commercially minded professional with experience in inventory or supply chain management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the on-site stores function.
  • Lead and develop the stores team (where applicable).
  • Maintain stock accuracy through regular monitoring, reporting, and stock counts.
  • Optimise inventory levels, replenishment processes, and product rationalisation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities including OEM conversion and product consolidation.
  • Ensure timely fulfilment of spare parts to support production efficiency.
  • Where required, participate in site production and engineering meetings to align with operational priorities.
  • Act as one of the main points of contact between the customer and internal sales/technical teams.
  • Deliver agreed KPIs and maintain high service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and operational procedures.
Key Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience in stores, inventory, or supply chain management (engineering/manufacturing preferred).
  • Strong understanding of stock control and procurement processes.
  • Customer-focused with excellent relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement efficiency and cost-saving improvements.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
