Overview
York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP) is seeking a Cleaning Operative in York. The closing date is 30 July 2026.
ResponsibilitiesThe main duties are to maintain cleanliness in a designated area and follow the work schedule. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Clean the ward/area according to the schedule for that area, including lifting items and operating cleaning machinery (some equipment may be industrial standard)
- Undertake specialist cleaning as required under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor, Nurse in Charge or Infection Prevention Department
- Use machinery and equipment in accordance with training to protect yourself and others
- Manage cleaning materials and disposables, using them economically and storing them securely and safely in the work area
- Use colour-coded equipment to prevent cross-contamination
Work is performed without immediate supervision. You should be able to prioritise, use your initiative, and meet time pressures while maintaining high standards.
Qualifications and Training- Ability to read, write and converse in English
- Willingness to complete appropriate qualifications and training
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures
- COSHH procedures
- Infection prevention and control
- Relevant water systems training
- Use of cleaning equipment, including floor cleaning machinery
