Overview
Manufacturing Operative role at an established engineering manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in engineering, manufacturing, machining, metalwork, fabrication, or industrial production who are seeking a long-term career with full training, progression, and regular pay increases as they develop new skills.
Based in a busy engineering environment producing precision-engineered components. Experience in engineering or manufacturing is preferred.
Training and Working HoursTraining period (first 6–8 weeks):
- Monday to Thursday: 07:00–16:00
- Friday: 07:00–13:00
After training:
- Rotating 12-hour day shifts: 06:00–18:00
- Working 3 or 4 days per week (Monday to Friday only)
- £13.30 per hour during initial training
- £14.36 per hour after completing the first level of training (typically within 6–12 months)
- Opportunities to train on additional machinery and processes with potential for further pay increases
- Operate a range of engineering grinding machinery
- Work with CNC crush grinders and Gockel grinding machines
- Load and unload materials
- Inspect finished components and carry out quality checks
- Follow engineering drawings and production procedures as required
- Maintain high health and safety standards
- Support general manufacturing operations
- Manual handling and heavy lifting as part of the role
Some employees may also receive training in cylindrical grinding, which is more physically demanding with lifting and slinging. Full training will be provided.
About You- Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience operating machinery, working with metal components, machining, fabrication, assembly, or production within an engineering business is advantageous.
- Willing to learn new skills and train on specialist machinery.
- Comfortable with manual handling and occasional heavy lifting.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team.
- A forklift licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
