Overview
We are looking for volunteers to help sort through our mountains of donated goods and organise stock for the coming months to send out to our 15 shops. Our Donation Centre accepts donations from members of the public seven days a week. Our retail department raises vital funds for St Leonard's Hospice through the sale of pre-loved goods in our shops and acts as a visible presence in local communities.
Whenand shifts
The Donation Centre is open Monday–Saturday 9:00am–4:30pm and Sunday 10:00am–4:00pm. Morning shifts are typically 9:00am–1:00pm and afternoon shifts 12:30pm–4:30pm, with other shifts possible if at least 2 hours long. Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred.
Responsibilities- Work alongside staff and other volunteers in the warehouse in Clifton Moor, York
- Accept donations from the public and promote the Gift Aid scheme
- Move and process donations to sell in our shops
- Use your time and skills for a good cause

Volunteers will be supervised by the Donation Centre managers, supported by the St Leonard's Hospice Retail Team, who together provide general training and liaise with you over all aspects of your role. The Volunteer Services Team will guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general volunteering enquiries. Volunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules delivered via our online platform.
Additional booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face to face. You may also be invited to attend role-specific in-person meetings where appropriate.

St Leonard's Hospice provides care and support to those living with life-limiting illnesses and to the people they care about. We couldn't carry out the important work we do without a committed and talented team of volunteers and supporters—people of all ages and from all walks of life who help us provide care, assistance, and support throughout the organisation, as well as promoting the work of the hospice in local communities and raising crucial funds.
