Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Volunteering Support Officer (temporary fixed term).
As a key point of contact for our volunteer managers, you will provide day-to-day support, answer volunteer enquiries, help to coordinate communications through our website and social media channels, and organise volunteer events and training opportunities. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will play an important role in growing volunteer engagement, reaching new audiences, and enhancing the supporter experience.
You will also help promote and recruit for existing and new volunteer roles, ensuring our volunteering activities are meaningful, engaging, and make the greatest possible impact.
You will support effective and efficient volunteer involvement by responding to volunteer enquiries, providing guidance on opportunities, delivering volunteer management training, and supporting staff to develop meaningful volunteering roles. You will coordinate volunteer recruitment and administration, help implement best practice in volunteer management and support, maintain accurate volunteer records through our CRM and volunteer management system. You will also promote volunteering opportunities through a range of channels, create engaging communications to enhance the volunteer experience, and contribute to events and activities that strengthen supporter engagement and advocacy.
Working collaboratively across teams, you monitor and report on volunteer data, ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, build strong internal relationships, and support the delivery of volunteering development projects that contribute to the Trust’s wider objectives.
- To act as a day‑to‑day contact point for Volunteer Managers; providing effective administration; responding to volunteer enquiries; supporting volunteer communications (including updating of the YWT website and use of social media) and organising volunteer events and training.
- To work with colleagues to increase engagement and support from volunteers to help diversify our audiences and strengthen the supporter journey.
- To develop and co‑ordinate the promotion, recruitment, inductions and ongoing support for Voluntary Placements and Work Experience Placements.
- To coordinate and evaluate volunteering activities to achieve optimum engagement and income generation and least negative impact on the environment.
You will have proven experience in volunteer development and managing volunteer programmes. We’re looking for someone who is skilled at building relationships across diverse teams, alongside having excellent organisational, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. You’ll have a sound understanding of volunteer management, data protection, and safeguarding principles.
We want the post holder to enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and have a passion for supporting positive volunteer experiences. You will be confident using Microsoft applications and volunteer management systems, plus have a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Yorkshire.
We want our people to flourish, just like nature, and so we are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities. We value diversity and creating an inclusive culture where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We are also a member of the Disability Confident Scheme. This means we are committed to offering an interview to disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the post.
Where a post is oversubscribed (i.e. there are more candidates meeting the minimum criteria than we can offer interviews to), we will carefully balance inviting a mix of the highest scoring disabled and non‑disabled applicants.
