Registered nurse secondment in the Vascular Imaging Unit at York Hospital, which may become permanent afterwards. The work centres on caring for patients before, during and after interventional radiology and cardiology procedures, including scrubbing in as scrub nurse. The post rotates through recovery, procedure rooms, main X-ray, pre-assessment and Scarborough, with on-call for interventional radiology. Interviews are in person only, and the team expects to move into a new unit in November.
Whatthe job involves
- Manage patient care before, during and after interventional radiology and cardiology procedures
- Act as scrub nurse and runner in procedure rooms, sometimes wearing lead aprons for long periods
- Rotate through recovery, radiology and cardiology procedure rooms, main X-ray, pre-assessment and Scarborough when required, once trained
- Take part in the on-call rota for interventional radiology
Registration & licences
- NMC registration as a registered nurse
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Ability to demonstrate and explain skills to other staff
- Understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to develop team members
- Knowledge of current issues in healthcare and standards of professional practice
- Committed to working with people and to teamwork
- Willingness to undergo training as necessary
- Awareness of the speciality
