Castle Employment Group is recruiting an experienced Technical Manager for an established food manufacturer in North Yorkshire.
This is a key site leadership position with ownership of food safety, quality, legality and technical standards. With further investment being made into the Technical function, you'll have the opportunity to strengthen systems, develop the team and make a genuine impact on standards across the site.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you'll work closely with Production, Engineering and the wider operational team, taking the lead on technical compliance, audit readiness, quality performance and continuous improvement.
The Role- Leading the site's food safety, quality and technical standards
- Managing and developing the Technical and Quality team
- Taking the technical lead for customer and external audits
- Managing HACCP, GMP, quality systems and technical compliance
- Overseeing microbiological, environmental, nutritional and shelf-life testing
- Leading root cause investigations, non-conformances, complaints and CAPA
- Monitoring CCPs and critical production processes
- Managing the internal audit programme and ensuring actions are closed effectively
- Maintaining specifications, technical documentation and traceability systems
- Working closely with Production and Engineering to resolve issues at source
- Driving improvements to technical systems, procedures and working practices
- Overseeing hygiene standards, chemical controls and COSHH compliance
- Supporting training and embedding a strong food safety and quality culture across the operation
We're looking for an established Technical Manager or experienced Technical professional ready to take ownership of a site Technical function.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong Technical or Quality experience within food manufacturing
- Good knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety management systems
- Experience leading customer, certification or external audits
- Strong root cause analysis and corrective action experience
- Experience managing and developing Technical or Quality teams
- The confidence to work cross-functionally with Operations and Engineering and challenge standards when required
