Shop Volunteer (Till & Customer Service - York)

Your local British Red Cross shop offers volunteers a variety of activities, from sorting stock and preparing donated items for sale, to providing great customer service to our donors and customers. We have something to suit most people’s interests and it’s a great place to learn new skills or share existing ones.

We are currently looking for Till and Customer Service volunteers to help us in our shop.

If you have a positive outlook, enjoy speaking to new people, and are confident in learning how to use a shop till, then this may be for you.

• Using the shop till to take payment for items
• Promoting Gift Aid to maximise our fundraising potential
• Helping and advising customers
• Undertaking general activities in the shop

No experience is needed. Full training will be provided.

A few hours during the week or weekend, as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours; we only ask that you agree on hours you are confident you can attend and let us know if these change.

We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety. We may ask you to complete a simple risk assessment and have a conversation to discuss any adjustments you may need. As we take great care to ensure all volunteers are safe and supported, there may be some locations where we won’t be able to host 15-17 year olds.
