We have an exciting opportunity for a Service User Engagement Worker with Lived Experience to join our team in South Yorkshire.

About

The Role

This role works across both the Reconnect and Liaison and Diversion services.

Reconnect Service

Reconnect is a care after custody service that seeks to improve the continuity of care for people leaving prison.

Liaison and Diversion Service

Liaison and Diversion works with those following their initial contact with the criminal justice system. These services offer liaison, advocacy, signposting, and support to facilitate engagement with community-based health and support services.

Hours

30 hours per week. Days to be discussed with the successful candidate.

Salary

Part‑time & fixed term. Salary of £25,382 – £29,562 full‑time equivalent.

Location

Across South Yorkshire Region – Doncaster as main hub. Driving license and own vehicle – Desired.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Use lived experience of the criminal justice system to engage vulnerable service users as they leave prison.
  • Provide daily support for children and/or adults, including those from hard‑to‑reach communities, to engage and navigate through the criminal justice system.
  • Support service users in accessing support for a full range of identified health needs, including substance misuse, mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues.
  • Actively support service users in the community by accompanying them to appointments and advocating so that they receive the right support.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Lived experience of the criminal justice system.
  • Relevant volunteering experience in a supporting role within the criminal justice system.
  • Level 2 Peer Mentor training qualifications or relevant volunteer work (ideally).
  • Ability to liaise with external agencies as required.
  • Strong passion to support service users within our service.
