We are working closely with a local authority in North Yorkshire
to assist with the appointment of a Leasehold Officer on a 3-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 17.35- 21.83 per hour

Summary:

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Leasehold Officer to deliver an effective efficient and consistent leasehold income management service across the Councils housing portfolio. The postholder will manage leaseholder shared ownership and service charge accounts ensuring the timely collection of housing-related income while supporting customers to sustain their homes through early intervention financial advice and income maximisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of leasehold shared ownership service charge garage and other housing-related accounts.
  • Support possession proceedings forfeiture action debt recovery and enforcement processes.
  • Assist customers in accessing Welfare Benefits Universal Credit Housing Benefit Council Tax Reduction and other financial support.
  • Process electronic payments Direct Debits refunds cash and cheque transactions in accordance with Council procedures.
  • Build effective working relationships with Housing Management Homelessness Prevention Tenancy Support Anti-Social Behaviour teams and Legal Services.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR Information Governance Equality legislation safeguarding responsibilities and Council policies.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

Essentials:

  • Experience working within a social housing or housing management environment.
  • Experience managing leasehold rent service charge or housing income accounts.
  • Good understanding of social housing management and landlord responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of leasehold obligations and shared ownership arrangements.
  • Knowledge of Welfare Benefits Universal Credit Housing Benefit and income maximisation.
  • Understanding of GDPR Information Governance Equality legislation and safeguarding responsibilities.
