Fort Albany First Nation is Cree Nation community along the west coast of James Bay. With a population of approximately 1,200 people within the community itself, Fort Albany First Nation serves around 5,000 band members that it shares with Kashechewan First Nation.

- Principals Qualifications registered Ontario College of Teachers certification (preferred)
- As our ideal candidate for this role, you will have knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices, and be able to integrate First Nations cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum.
- In addition, you will have excellent computer literacy skills, along with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Vice Principal would be an asset.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for staff and students
- Incorporating First Nation cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum and school community
- Participating in ongoing Professional Development
- Support the Principal in the overall leadership and daily operations of the school
- Coordinating meetings with parents and other professionals when necessary
- You will need an Ontario Teaching Certificate and excellent leadership skills
- Knowledge of First Nations culture and experience with First Nations students is an asset, along with possessing excellent interpersonal skills and classroom management skills.
- You will need to be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing, and be able to demonstrate a professional work ethic and experience in a leadership position.
- Keeps appropriate records and inform administration and staff of student or family contacts
- Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Finally, it is important that you are willing to participate in local community and cultural events
- Student Discipline & Attendance:
Oversee the enforcement of school rules, manage behavioral interventions. - Instructional Supervision:
Conduct formal and informal classroom observations to ensure high standards of teaching and learning. - Parent & Community Relations:
Act as the lead point of contact for families to resolve conflicts and discuss student academic or behavioral progress. - Daily Operations:
Manage the "on-the-ground" logistics of the school day, including lunchroom supervision, assemblies, and hall monitoring. - Teacher Support:
Provide ongoing guidance to staff and lead professional development sessions focused on classroom management and curriculum. - Extracurricular Oversight:
Supervise school events, clubs, and athletic programs to ensure they align with school values and policies. - Policy Implementation:
Assist the Principal in executing district mandates and ensuring school-wide compliance with educational standards.
