Position

Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE), OSSTF‑ESSP – Permanent position at Hullet Central Public School, Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB).

Under the direction of the Principal, the DECE will collaborate with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver a full‑day kindergarten program that supports cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development of students.

35 hours per week, 10 months per year.

$26.80 – $33.80 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, as outlined in the OSSTF‑ESSP Collective Agreement effective September 1, 2025.

In collaboration with the classroom teacher, the DECE will plan and provide an effective kindergarten program and learning environment, supporting the holistic development of Kindergarten students.

• Minimum two‑year community college Early Childhood Education diploma
• Proof of current registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
• Recent experience as an ECE in an early learning centre or day care
• Experience planning and implementing age‑appropriate programmes
• Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Program and related legislation
• Effective communication skills with children, parents, staff, and the public
• Understanding and commitment to confidentiality
• Knowledge of classroom management and ability to handle challenging situations in accordance with policies and procedures
• Basic computer skills, strong organisational and time‑management skills, and ability to meet deadlines
• Basic understanding of food‑handling procedures
