First Nations Pow Wow Drumming Instructor
The First Nations Pow Wow Drumming Instructor will share traditional knowledge and provide hands‑on drumming instruction to students in Good Spirit School Division schools. This role supports GSSD’s commitment to fostering a culturally inclusive and respectful environment by promoting understanding and appreciation of First Nations traditions, protocols, and worldviews.

Compensation- Contracted - $150 per session (a scheduled morning or afternoon in a GSSD school).

Qualifications- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Pow Wow drumming and First Nations cultural practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and students.
- Designation for candidates of Indigenous ancestry.
Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent criminal record and vulnerable sector check within the last six months acceptable to the Board of Education prior to offer of employment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Pow Wow drumming sessions in GSSD schools, scheduled as either a morning or afternoon session.
- Teach students the cultural significance, protocols, and techniques of Pow Wow drumming.
- Collaborate with school-based administrators and staff to create engaging, culturally responsive learning experiences.
- Promote respect for Indigenous traditions and ensure cultural protocols are followed during sessions.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and community members.
