Position: Substation QA / QC Specialist

Substation QA / QC Specialist – GPD Group

Role Summary

Ensure the quality and safety of engineering deliverables by overseeing design reviews and refining standards. You’ll mentor others in QA/QC practices, manage risk, and help maintain technical excellence. This role is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who are committed to upholding high standards, refining processes, and ensuring consistent quality across engineering deliverables and team outputs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience in working with AutoCAD, ACADE, or Inventor
  • Expert in the design of substation physical structures, wiring, and controls
  • Authority to comprehend and interpret safety codes, utility standards and regulations
  • Strategic and detail-oriented, with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize complex systems and workflows
  • Trusted and respected, with deep expertise in fostering collaboration across disciplines and driving innovation within project teams
  • Forward-thinking communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
Responsibilities
  • Oversee design reviews and validation procedures
  • Review and ensure the accuracy and safety of the design of high voltage substations
  • Establish and refine quality standards aligned with industry’s best practices
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of quality control procedures
  • Mentor engineers with varying levels of experience in applying QA/QC principles and maintaining technical excellence
  • Champion QA/QC processes to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality engineering outputs
  • Interface with project managers to align quality goals with schedule and budget
