Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Mercy Health Behavioral Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Mercy Health, is committed to prioritizing wellbeing to provide exceptional care to others. As a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) you will lead the overall financial administration of the hospital, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting while safeguarding assets and driving strategic growth.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Supervise and oversee business office staff (billing, collections, financial counseling, utilization review, and data processing), maintaining effective revenue cycle processes to keep patient accounts receivable at an acceptable level and increase cash flow.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are effective and implemented to guarantee minimal risk to the facility.
  • Maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and all local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Accurately capture and post all financial and daily accounting activity; ensure monthly financial statements and productivity reports are completed and distributed on time.
  • Monitor performance goals and objectives (EBITDAR target), analyze variances, and with the CEO develop action plans to achieve assigned targets.
  • Maintain patient accounts receivable at amounts appropriate for market, payer, and acuity mix (measured by AR days).
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly; implement internal controls to facilitate a clean audit opinion.
  • Supervise Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Purchasing, Payroll, and other departments as required at the individual hospital.
  • Ensure month‑end financial closing is completed accurately and timely; prepare financial statements and monthly operating review reports for presentation with the hospital CEO to corporate management.
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets for the hospital.
  • Assist corporate finance and accounting teams in the annual independent audit preparation and process.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of operating statistics and financial metrics as scheduled or requested.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (CPA preferred).
  • Experience:

    Prior experience in healthcare overall financial operations and controls, including payroll. Knowledge of inpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital finance is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience in a hospital workstation environment.

The 61,900‑square‑foot, 72‑bed facility will provide inpatient and outpatient treatment—including a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program—for adults and geriatric patients experiencing a broad range of mental health illnesses, including depression, anxiety, post‑traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, and co‑occurring substance abuse.
