Manager, Infection Prevention – Mercy Health Youngstown and Lorain
Bon Secours Mercy Health is dedicated to continually improving health‑care quality, safety, and cost‑effectiveness. This role implements system infection prevention strategies, policies, and practices at the market and site level, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions- Manage the Infection Prevention and Control Program to ensure patient and personnel safety and alignment with system goals.
- Implement system infection prevention strategies, policies, and practices at the market/site level.
- Lead market integration and standardization of infection prevention activities.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for infection prevention and mentor site/market‑based teams.
- Provide leadership and management of key infection control initiatives to reduce preventable infections using epidemiologic principles and statistical methods.
- Oversee development and review of annual infection control plans and surveillance indicators.
- Participate in emergency management planning and bioterrorism readiness programs.
- Contribute to system‑wide infection prevention initiatives through improvement projects and policy/procedure development.
- Lead and coordinate facility risk assessments, healthcare‑associated infection reviews, surveillance plans, and construction infection control risk assessments.
- Lead day‑to‑day infection prevention activities, including surveillance, rounding, and preparation and dissemination of reports and communications.
- Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a healthcare‑related field. - Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing or another health‑related field. - Optional Advanced Education in Infection Prevention is preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) required within three years of start date.
- Minimum Years of
Experience:
5‑7 years of demonstrated progressive leadership in infection prevention. - Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of improvement science is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with leadership, clinicians, and staff.
- Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and educational programs.
- Experience with data analysis, surveillance, and reporting of infection metrics.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to infection control.
