Anesthesia Clinical Assistant – Surgery/OR – St. Elizabeth Hospital Youngstown

- Support the licensed anesthesia provider in clinical settings.
- Assist in preparation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and delivery systems before and during anesthesia.
- Provide preoperative and interoperative support, including first‑level maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
- Clean, sterilize, disinfect, stock, order, and maintain routine anesthesia equipment.
- Maintain and organize the anesthesia environment, equipment, and supplies to facilitate department function.
- Assist with acquisition of all equipment/supplies for anesthesia cases and inventory/ordering support.
- Provide perioperative technical support to anesthesia professional staff, ensuring equipment is available and functional.
- Assist with setup of OR cases, including laryngoscope and intubation equipment, IV bags, and warming devices.
- Assist during procedures such as peripheral nerve blocks, insertion of invasive lines, pulmonary artery catheter, central venous access, fiber optic intubation, and difficult airway situations.
- Prepare patients for major invasive monitoring and assist in positioning and draping.
- Demonstrate speed and timeliness for emergencies and trauma procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as an perioperative assistant, anesthesia clinical assistant, or equivalent experience.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to recognize and establish priorities.
- Basic reading, writing and simple arithmetic skills.
- Basic operation of equipment and machinery.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and hospital policies and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
