Medical Assistant – Primary Care

Southwoods Health is currently hiring a Medical Assistant for a Primary Care office in Youngstown, Ohio. The Medical Assistant will work with a team and partner with the physician and/or other health‑care professionals to evaluate and provide direction for comprehensive, quality patient care. The role involves performing a wide range of skilled administrative and clinical duties.

• Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for patients and visitors through exceptional customer service.
• Rooms patients in a timely manner utilizing two patient identifiers.
• Obtain and record vital signs, major complaint, medications and allergies in patient chart.
• Collect various specimens by following proper specimen collection, storing and recording protocols.
• Prepare lab specimen in a timely manner for transport to hospital lab by maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing.
• Report and record patient critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information promptly to physician and team members.
• Able to schedule appointments, answer phones, file, maintain medical records, and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Recognize patients’ rights and responsibilities and support them in performance of job duties.
• Ensure all processes at the responsible physician practice maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program and obtained a diploma; OR maintains certification renewals from one of the following associations throughout the course of employment:
  Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMT), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through the National Health career Association (NHA).
• Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Full‑time. Monday‑Friday 7:30 am‑4:00 pm.
