Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research is looking to fill our Test Technician role. In this position you will perform a variety of quality, customized tests which will analyze materials to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics, to identify any performance/reliability issues with the material.
This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals who want a chance to work in a fast‑paced environment and learn some new skills, all within the Latrobe/Youngstown, PA area.
No experience necessary! Training is provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control
- Performs a variety of quality, customized tests which will analyze materials to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics, in order to identify any performance/reliability issues with the material
- Organizes and maintains the test lab
- Safely operates tools such as a band saw, grinder, sander, polisher and mounting machinery
- Maintains detailed records of test results
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to prioritize and multi‑task
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Mechanically inclined individuals preferred
- Experience working with blueprints preferred
- Ability to stand, sit, or move around for prolonged periods of time
