Mercy Health invites you to join our exceptional team as a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse, working the night shift zabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Responsibilities- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to establish goals and strategies for discharge or continuing care.
- Collect and record nursing assessment of physical and behavioral health status.
- Communicate assessment information and modifications of plan of care to the treatment team.
- Use effective interviewing skills to elicit necessary information from patient, family or significant other.
- Develop, maintain, or modify individualized treatment plan of care.
- Execute treatment plan as developed by provider and interdisciplinary team members.
- Continuously evaluate patient’s response to nursing interventions to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Participate in safe management of the milieu, intervening effectively with patients experiencing coping difficulty.
- Act as patient advocate.
- Practice and deliver care in accordance with core concepts and intention of BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model.
- Current RN license in the state where working or covered by compact (required).
- BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire; must obtain prior to direct patient care. ACLS acceptable in lieu of BLS.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- 1 year RN experience required.
- Recent behavioral health experience preferred.
- De‑Escalation Training preferred.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) Training preferred.
- Assign patient care according to nursing skill, knowledge and scope of practice of staff.
- Orients, facilitates learning experience, and provides education to nursing staff and others.
- Possesses clinical knowledge, skills and competency to provide evidence‑based patient care.
- Performs comprehensive assessment of patient’s clinical condition and psychosocial needs.
- Safely and efficiently develops, implements, and prioritizes plan of care.
- Application of nursing process in patient care delivery.
- Assesses patient’s physical and emotional responses to treatment to evaluate effectiveness and revises plan of care accordingly.
- Assists patient and family in coping with patient’s illness.
- Collaborates with others in delivery of coordinated patient care.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
- Applies cultural diversity and inclusion principles when caring for patients and their resources.
- Recognizes own limitations and seeks assistance.
- Advances personal and professional growth through participation in education programs, current literature, in‑services, workshops.
- Exhibits professionalism and accountability for own and delegated actions.
- Integrates cost‑effective measures into practice and models stewardship of resources.
- Practices self‑care and cultivates resilience in conflict and difficult circumstances.
- Protects safety and privacy of all persons.
- Understanding and utilization of office and clinical technologies.
- Ability to communicate with patients in a manner they can understand.

- De‑escalation, empathy, knowledge of psychology, mental health, behavioral health, ability to set clear boundaries.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse.
- May be required to use physical restraints.
- May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids.
- May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials.
- May have periods of constant interruptions.
- General office environment.
- Universal precautions, PPE, infection control required.
- Provides appropriate care for patients aged adolescents (13‑17), adults (18‑64), and geriatrics (65+).
