Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) position requiring an active OH or compact RN license and advanced cardiac certifications.

Job Details

• Intermediate coronary care unit specializing in progressive care and cardiac stepdown,

• Care for primarily cardiac patients including afib, CHF, pre/post cath, open heart waiters, as well as respiratory, COVID, renal, stroke/TIA, and post-op cases,

• Patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with regular PCA support; ratios may fluctuate due to staffing,

• Uses telemetry: waveform monitors at bedside and monitored centrally, with RNs responsible for interpreting and signing strips,

• Care involves use of Airvo, continuous BIPAP, hiflow oxygen (no vents or trachs), multiple drips (heparin, cardizem, amio, nitro, insulin), multiple drains, central lines, chest tubes, wound vacs,

• EMR system is Epic,

• Floating may be required as per facility needs,

• On-call requirements are not specified,

Job Requirements

• Active OH or compact state RN license required,

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required,

• At least 1 year of RN experience required,

• Previous cardiac or vascular patient experience preferred,

• Must pass a dysrhythmia/ECG exam with two available attempts and study guides provided,

• Epic charting experience preferred,

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for intermediate care patients,

• Serve as a primary coordinator for patient care and communication across interdisciplinary teams,

• Manage complex cardiac and multi-system patients, including administration and titration of cardiac drips and oxygen support,

• Testing required on the first day includes a pass/fail EKG exam; two attempts allowed,

• Team includes charge RNs, PCAs, and access to phlebotomy services for lab draws,

• 50-mile radius rule applies; local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible,

• Dress code and scrub color requirements are not specified,
