Overview
Title: Armed Security Officer
Classification: Non-Exempt
Full Time and Part time positions available.
Shift: 12:30pm - 8:30pm or 1:30pm - 9:30pm
Position SummaryThe Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our premises, assets, team members, and visitors. Duties include patrolling the premises, investigating suspicious behavior, and enforcing company policies. Deter crime by remaining alert, vigilant and highly visible. Must possess good people skills and provide extraordinary customer service. The Security Officer must evaluate situations effectively, stay calm, and maintain high integrity under all circumstances.
EssentialJob Functions
- Provide security to the business as well as its occupants (team members, customers, and vendors). Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property and staying visible at all times.
- Provide extraordinary customer service to team members and visitors; greet and engage with others professionally.
- Be vigilant and identify potential security exposures, such as fights or disturbances.
- Prevent losses by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy/procedures, and restraining trespassers where applicable.
- Write activity and incident reports as needed, recording observations and surveillance activities.
- Contact local authorities when needed and maintain professional relationships with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel.
- Contribute to Asset Protection efforts to prevent theft and losses and control shrink.
- Assist Asset Protection teams as needed in the execution of shoplifting arrests or crimes against the company.
- Remain in compliance with local, state, federal, and BSIS regulations for Proprietary Private Security.
- Respond to emergencies and provide necessary assistance to team members and/or visitors.
- Firewatch patrol as necessary.
- Inspect perimeter doors to ensure locks are in place and working properly at the end of the day prior to clocking out.
- Promote a positive, welcoming, and safe atmosphere within stores and properties.
- Adaptable to changes, multitask, and remain professional under any circumstances.
- Knowledge of the BSIS Power to Arrest training manual preferred.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups.
- Ability to learn security training provided and guard orders.
- Good judgment and the ability to make fast decisions.
- Attention to detail.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent
- Prior Security Guard experience preferable
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- License preferred; keep all licensing up to date
- Act 235
- May involve light lifting of supplies and materials
- Requires prolonged standing
- Travel between locations in the district based on business needs; multi-store location position must be open to travel
- Typical physical activities include climbing, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, and, when necessary, reasonable physical contact to execute an arrest within company guidelines and law
- Non-exempt level position; schedule based on business necessity and coordinated through the Security District Manager
- Flexible schedule based on business needs
- Open to work nights, weekends, and holidays
