Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Youngstown, Ohio.

Pay & Benefits- Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
- Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF - Hours:
Second Shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm - Annual merit pay increases each year

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational/Technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gasoline or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
- Three or more years relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certifications required by location (required)
- Minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer proficiency: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor‑vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification for last 3 years)
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal/external maintenance documents
- Perform additional support duties as required, e.g., Service Island support
- Obtain SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan‑tool software courses within 365 days (per location fleet mix)
