POSITION:

• Developmental Specialist

DUTIES (include but not limited to the following):

• Conduct developmental evaluations/assessments in the home or in a community setting to determine a child's Part C eligibility and plan service needs.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based strategies which promote planned interactions and active participation of caregivers, children, materials, and the specific environment that leads to achieving IFSP outcomes.
• Use a coaching interaction style that provides families and caregivers with information, skills, and support related to enhancing a child's development.
• Function as a Primary Service Provider (PSP) to deliver special instruction in the child's home or community setting in accordance with Chapter 5180-10 of the OAC.
• Promote an infant's or toddler's acquisition of functional skills across developmental areas, including cognitive processes and social interaction through adaptation of the child's learning environment.
• Use formal and informal methods to provide ongoing assessment and progress monitoring.
• Participate as a member of the trans-disciplinary team; attend weekly team meetings, semi-annual IFSP meetings, and Transition Planning Conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (include but not limited to the following):

• Bachelor's Degree in early childhood special education, family relations & human development, social sciences, or related field.
• Eligible for Developmental Specialist certification issued by the Department of Children & Youth (DCY), as outlined in Ohio Administrative Code .
• Knowledge of infant and toddler development and evaluation and assessment tools.
• Knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies, parent coaching interactions, and adult learning preferences.
• Evidence of a valid driver's license in state of residence, good driving record and full liability coverage on any vehicle used for transportation; continued maintenance of excellent driving record.
• Able to establish and maintain positive rapport with child and family members.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; proficiency in iPad use.

SALARY:

• As per schedule.

HOURS:

• 40 hr/week, variable and flexible per program needs.
