Lead Machinist​/Coordinator

Youngsville, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Lead Machinist / Coordinator for an immediate, full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity. The Lead Machinist / Coordinator will oversee daily machining operations by setting up CNC equipment, coordinating production workflow, supporting machinists, and ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met.

• Set up and prove out first articles for initial production runs
• Set up and operate CNC machines including lathes, VTLs, and mills to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts to drawing specifications
• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs to improve run times and production efficiency
• Provide production machinists with required tooling and materials
• Maintain constant communication with all machinists to ensure efficient and timely job completion
• Assist with training and guidance of machinists as directed or in the absence of a supervisor
• Ensure parts are machined within specified tolerances and required surface finishes
• Perform safety, visual, and preventative maintenance inspections on machines and tools
• Study blueprints, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine machining processes and setup requirements
• Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools
• Select, align, and secure fixtures, tooling, and materials on machining equipment
• Monitor machine operations, identify malfunctions, and make adjustments as required
• Inspect finished components to verify conformance to drawings and specifications
• Determine and prepare jigs or special fixtures as needed
• Complete all assignments to the highest quality standards

• Minimum of five (5) years of machining experience
• Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, VTLs, and mills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Proficient with precision measuring tools such as calipers and OD micrometers
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Basic mathematical skills
• Good communication and coordination skills
• General knowledge of machining equipment, tooling, and processes

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday
• Frequent use of hands for handling, measuring, and operating machinery
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to work around moving mechanical parts and in occasional wet or humid conditions
