Senior Maintenance Reliability Engineer (Ypsilanti, MI)
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Maintenance Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering team at Pollard Banknote Limited’s Ypsilanti Plant (775 James L Hart Parkway). Reporting to Corporate Engineering leadership, you will collaborate with maintenance departments and engineering to focus platform-wide (Instant Ticket Operations) on improving equipment reliability and preventing failures by analyzing data, developing maintenance strategies, and leading implementation of improved solutions and practices for long-term reliability.

- Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance programs with plant leadership (both preventive and predictive).
- Include:
- Hazard analysis – identification of potential dangers
- Failure mode analysis – potential failures and consequences
- Criticality analysis – impact of failures
- Maintainability – efficiency of internal maintenance approach
- Develop inspection criteria or functionality tests to monitor equipment health.
- Maintenance labor and parts cost evaluation and recommendations.
- Evaluate and analyze equipment performance to identify proactive maintenance requirements (PM system changes or updates).
- Investigate equipment failures or under‑performance to identify underlying causes.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis with recommendations of corrective actions to prevent future failures or improve reliability.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on the above.
- Provide input during the design and installation stages of new equipment or systems to build in reliability from the start.
- Proficiency in maintenance software; ownership of implemented software.
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills with leadership potential.
- Solid understanding of operational functions and principles.
- Skilled in evaluating processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Strong ability to collaborate and communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Quick to learn and apply new technologies to support continuous improvement.
- Applies critical thinking to analyze information and recommend effective actions.
- Offers innovative solutions to complex challenges through subject matter expertise.
- Adapts swiftly to changing priorities and takes a hands‑on approach when needed.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Post‑Secondary degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines (considered).
- 5+ years in a manufacturing industry in a similar role capacity.
- Experience developing and editing engineering design documents, technical evaluations, and test plans.
- Strong computer skills; MS Office, SPC, query language, CAD/CAM.
- Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing certification is an asset.
- Experience with ERP software is an asset.
- Experience in printing and converting, packaging, or finishing environment processing of paper, foil and film is an asset.
- Knowledge of flexographic, offset and digital printing and related technologies (e.g., plate‑making, pre‑press, etc.) is an asset.
- Ability to travel 10% within Canada and the USA.
