Villa At Parkridge is seeking a Wound Care Nurse RN to join their team. As a Wound Care Nurse RN, you will specialize in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders and provide routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plans, as directed by management.

Wound Care Nurse RN Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works with patients who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores.
  • Evaluates and provides treatment protocols to prevent skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well due to other medical problems (e.g., diabetes or poor circulation).
  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, and as necessary.
  • Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention, reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
  • Assists with the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
  • Provides required resident assessments/observations and interventions, reviewing care plans to ensure appropriate care.
  • Charts nurse notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided and the resident’s response to the care.
  • Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care.
  • Communicates reports to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by facility policy and State/Federal guidelines.
  • Follows and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA compliance.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Wound Care Nurse RN Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification. Recognized organizations include the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Serves as the expert in wound care.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
Wound Care Nurse RN

Education and Experience
  • Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Possess a current license to practice in the state as a Registered Nurse.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Long-term care experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling; ability to distinguish smells and temperatures; all with or without the aid of mechanical devices as required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
