JOB DESCRIPTIONWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our urgent care team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. As an LVT at our clinic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and recovery of our patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Perform diagnostic tests, including blood work, urinalysis, radiographs, and other laboratory procedures
- Monitor and care for patients during their stay, including post-operative and day time critical care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans
- Provide client education on pet care, treatment plans, and post-visit care instructions
- Assist with inventory management and ensure the clinic is well-stocked and organized
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, providing immediate care as needed
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Michigan or eligible for licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, preferably in urgent or emergency care
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and surgical procedures
- Proficient in performing diagnostic tests and interpreting results
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
