The EHS and Training Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental health, safety, and training programs at Sacramento Valley Walnut Growers. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, coordinates employee training initiatives, and assists the EHS & Training Manager in fostering a strong culture of safety, compliance, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities- Environmental Health & Safety Support:
- Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Support hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain accurate logs of findings and follow‑up actions.
- Maintain EHS records, permits, and compliance documentation for audits and inspections.
- Support ammonia refrigeration safety and other high‑risk programs as directed by the EHS Manager.
- Assist with conducting department‑specific trainings, including those for forklift operation, scissor lift operation, work instructions (WIs), and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with scheduling and conducting monthly tailgate training.
- Training & Development:
- Coordinate, schedule, and track employee training programs (safety, food safety, equipment operation, compliance).
- Maintain the training database and ensure accurate documentation of employee certifications and renewals.
- Assist in developing training materials, presentations, and job‑specific instruction guides.
- Provide onboarding training for new employees in coordination with HR and operations leads.
- Support refresher courses and ensure timely completion of required compliance training.
- Communication & Continuous Improvement:
- Act as a resource for employees with safety and training questions.
- Support company‑wide safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve EHS programs and training effectiveness.
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers to encourage employee engagement in safety and learning initiatives.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Training & Development, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in EHS, training coordination, or a related role (agriculture, food processing, or manufacturing environment preferred).
- Knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and related safety regulations.
- Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability to prepare training materials and deliver small‑group training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and training management systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
