Overview
Federal Work Study - Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is a part‑time, hourly position at San Bernardino Community College District, serving both San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College. The role provides assistance in the High‑Tech Center and supports students and SAS staff with a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities- Monitor the computer lab area to ensure compliance with district policy.
- Assist students with login inquiries, MS Office programs, educational software, printing, slide shows, and document attachments.
- Proofread, format, and save documents.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Welcome students and answer phones.
- Respond to student and visitor questions regarding the campus and SAS department.
- Assist students in the HTC and TSC, help at various events, and transport students on campus via department tram.
- Handle and file sensitive documents while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- In possession of a Federal Work‑Study award letter for the current academic year.
- Enrolled at least half‑time (6+ units) throughout employment.
- Maintained Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Basic knowledge of computer programs such as a network email system, Canvas, Microsoft Office, and other instructional systems.
- Minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA.
- Complete a TB test at the time of employment.
- Maximum of 15 hours per week.
- Schedule varies within lab hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Submit to and successfully pass a DOJ live scan/fingerprinting; cost to candidate.
- Provide sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution.
- Undergo a TB risk assessment.
- Other pre‑employment requirements may be required (e.g., certifications or licenses).
Required:
Valid driver’s license and insurance. The student worker will assist students and SAS office staff while maintaining privacy and confidentiality. The position may include transport duties and handling sensitive documents.

Environment &Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.
- Physical:
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, and lift up to 25 lb. - Vision:
Normal visual range with or without correction sufficient to read screens and documents. - Hearing:
Normal audio range with or without correction.
