Overview

A medical assistant is responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in providing patient care. They perform administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth running of the healthcare facility. The duties of a medical assistant include:

• Recording patient medical history and vital signs
• Preparing patients for medical examinations
• Assisting healthcare professionals during medical procedures
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
• Performing basic laboratory tests
• Administering medications and injections as directed by healthcare professionals
• Preparing and maintaining medical equipment
• Performing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and maintaining patient records
• Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and protocols

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a medical assistant training program
• Certification as a medical assistant
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
• Proficiency in computer skills and electronic medical records
