The Credentialing Specialist I provides high‑level, independent support to the Medical Staff Services department and Medical Staff Leadership by facilitating physician onboarding through the initial application and reappointment process. The Credentialing Specialist I is responsible for collecting primary source verifications from multiple entities and analyzing the data to ensure compliance with established criteria, regulatory requirements, and YRMC governance documents. The Credentialing Specialist I accurately updates data for the department database to ensure data integrity.
The Credentialing Specialist I provides administrative support to the Medical Staff and Department Leadership including running reports from the dedicated provider database, coordinating meetings, and handling confidential information.
- Conduct primary source verification of provider applications with multiple entities as outlined in the Medical Staff Services Credentialing Policy and required by regulatory agencies and internal governance documents.
- Maintain the Medical Staff Services database, respond to questions regarding expiring credentials, upload renewed credentials, and maintain the auto‑alert system.
- Maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of the department and the YRMC organization.
- Assist providers as needed, in person, through email, or responding to calls.
- Maintain positive professional communication, written and verbal, with the Medical Staff, Administration, and all other YRMC staff.
- Process pre‑checks of potential candidates as outlined in the Medical Staff Services Credentialing Policy and collaborate with Provider Services.
- Maintain records of pre‑check data.
- Provide administrative coverage and support as needed, including routine reports, special projects, department meetings, and accounting reconciliation.
- Support the Credentialing Specialist II to facilitate reappointment and initial appointment processes.
- Collaborate with all team members to ensure accuracy in file completion.
- Assist the Director in assuring compliance with bylaws, policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines; participate in quality assurance, performance improvement programs, and processes.
- Assist the Director in maintaining budgetary expenses and processing check requests for reimbursements, ensuring adequate supplies in a cost‑effective manner.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint. - One year of general office experience.
- Associate Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration.
- 2‑3 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and ASM Products.
