Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides medical assistance and administrative/clerical support within a Yuma Regional Medical Center clinic, working with multiple providers to deliver coordinated patient care.
- Assist providers with patient care within the medical assistant scope of practice.
- Measure and record vital signs; promptly notify providers of changes in patient condition.
- Record patient interview, history, chief complaint, medication reconciliation, and current immunizations.
- Perform routine screening tests, basic lab tests, phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, and specimen collection.
- Assist providers with exams and administer medications with provider authorization.
- Perform front‑desk reception duties: answer phones, schedule appointments, greet patients, complete registration forms, and provide instructions.
- File and maintain medical and financial records; process mail.
- Arrange hospital admissions, outside referrals, and authorize prescription refills under provider supervision.
- Implement infection control measures and prep exam/treatment rooms; maintain medical inventory and supplies.
- Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets under provider supervision.
- Document all care in YRMC electronic health record following legal and ethical standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED (essential).
- 0 years of experience required.
- Registered BLS certification (essential).
- Arizonal fingerprint clearance (essential).
- Medical Assistant credential and education (essential).
