Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take necessary actions.Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.Understand store layout to locate products when requested.Stay current with ads and promotions.Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping logs.Promote trust and respect among team members.Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and providing assistance.Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.Notify management of accidents involving customers or employees.Work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment
