Deputy Fiscal Officer

Muskingum County Library System, John McIntire Library

Status: Part-Time (20–25 hours/week)

Pay Range: $18.31–$19.91/hour

The Muskingum County Library System is seeking a detail‑oriented Deputy Fiscal Officer to support daily financial operations and assist the Fiscal Officer in managing the library’s accounting functions. This role handles accounts payable, deposits, payroll support, financial recordkeeping, inventory updates, and other routine fiscal tasks. The Deputy Fiscal Officer also serves as backup to the Fiscal Officer to ensure continuity of operations.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing daily deposits, reconciling receipts, vouchers & printing checks.
  • Reviewing and releasing purchase orders.
  • Serve as backup to the Fiscal Officer in their absence.
  • Maintaining petty cash, purchase orders, OPERS PEDACKN, W-9 files and vendor records.
  • Assisting with payroll processing and reporting.
  • Tracking utilities and supporting budget preparation.
  • Managing petty cash and handling sales tax filings.
  • Assisting with inventory updates and equipment/furniture orders.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of accounting practices, financial regulations, and standard office procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and general office software.
  • Accurate with financial transactions, recordkeeping, filing, and managing multiple projects.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and the public.

  • Employees scheduled to work 20 hours per week are not eligible for benefits unless they agree to a 25-hour weekly schedule.
