** Overview of the position:
** Assist Respiratory Care Practitioners in patient care according to professional practice standards, while providing support for Genesis Health Care System. Assembles, assures cleanliness and working condition of all equipment used in providing respiratory care.

Job Description
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES
** 1.
Collects and evaluates clinical information.
2.
Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing respiratory medication administration, bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercises, and monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.  3.
Evaluates and monitors patients’ response to respiratory care and recommends modifications in therapeutic procedures.  4.
Selects, obtains, and maintains equipment to assure readiness.  5.
Conducts therapeutic procedures to maintain a patent airway, adequate ventilation, oxygenation, and remove bronchopulmonary secretions.  6.
Stays current with department information and changes by attending department meetings and reading the weekly Huddle.
7.
Demonstrates ability to identify when to accept and refer complex issues to the next level to facilitate problem resolution.  8.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.  9.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.  10.
Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
** QUALIFICATIONS
* * 1.
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program.
2.
Current limited permit issued by the  Medical Board of Ohio in good standing.  3.
Must take credentialing exam within 90 days of graduation.
4.
Obtain NRBC RRT credential and Ohio Respiratory Care license within one (1) year of graduation date.
5.
BLS required. ACLS and PALS preferred  6.
NRP within 6 months.  7.
Therapeutic skills – Airway management – Diagnostic testing  8.
Ability to read, write, and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff and patients  9.
Attention to detail  10.
Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure  11.
Displays common sense and ability to make quick decisions
