Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Building Principal/Director of Special Services/Director of Curriculum, the Subject/Grade Level Teacher will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students.

- Supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings.
- Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
- Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
- Plans, organizes and provides instruction based on Common Core State Standards.
- Administers informal and formal assessments.
- Incorporates district initiatives within instruction (adopted programs/policies).
- Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives.
- Demonstrates knowledge of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessments, diagnosis, and learning research.
- Demonstrates knowledge of educational research, trends and best practices.
- Provides written feedback to students.
- Maintains accurate, efficient, and effective records for instructional and non‑instructional purposes.
- Manages classroom organization.
- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community.
- Works cooperatively with administration and staff to schedule meetings.
- Participates in district‑wide and building committees related to educational and employment matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Plans and demonstrates practices that reflect knowledge of the content and instructional practices specific to the discipline.
- Seeks knowledge of students’ backgrounds, cultures, skills, language proficiency, interests and special needs.
- Develops instructional outcomes of appropriate rigor, aligned to Common Core Standards.
- Uses available resources to enhance knowledge and for students who need them.
- Coordinates knowledge of content, students and resources to design learning experiences aligned to outcomes and standards.
- Creates lesson plans with clear structure that engage students in learning.
- Aligns assessment with instructional outcomes and uses results to plan future instruction.
- Interacts with students in a friendly, caring and respectful manner.
- Builds a classroom culture of commitment to learning and student engagement.
- Manages instructional groups and handles materials and supplies consistently.
- Monitors student behavior, responds to misbehavior consistently and respectfully.
- Ensures a safe and accessible classroom, effective use of physical resources and technology.
- Communicates instructional purpose clearly, using appropriate vocabulary.
- Utilizes high‑quality questions/prompts to engage all students.
- Uses assessments to support instruction, provide feedback and diagnose learning.
- Modifies lessons in response to student needs and interests.
- Provides accurate reflections and seeks improvement suggestions.
- Communicates frequently with families, conveying information culturally appropriately.
- Participates in professional community and school/district events.

- Uses web‑based programs, e‑mail and technology (laptop, Smart board, etc.) effectively.
- Indoor classrooms/School: student noise, mowing, music, food odors, lawn mowing, possible communicable diseases.
- Outdoor schoolyard and grounds: field trips, temperature variations, exposure to mowed grass.
- Requires regular and consistent work attendance.
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement(s).
- Understanding and experience with curriculum design, planning and instruction.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral).
