Registered Nurse, Critical Care Float Per Diem Night – City of Hope

Opportunity to make up to $54/hour based on experience.
Responsibilities- Maintains competencies and works with cross-trained staff assigned each shift to address census fluctuations or temporary replacements.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the professional clinical registered nurse and the position-specific requirements of the clinical area assigned.
- Provide flexible staffing to meet the needs of patient care areas (Refer to CRC Guidelines and Expectations).
- Interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms and trends, and institute appropriate interventions.
- Attend in-house codes and rapid response calls as required.
- Caring for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.
- Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters, and arterial lines.
- Safely use less invasive, life-supporting modalities (e.g., BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure-based CO/CI & SVO2 monitoring, core temperature monitors).
- Must be able to work 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- 1–2 years of critical care experience; suitable backgrounds include Intensive Care Unit, Step Down, Stem Cell or Emergency Department.
- Telemetry competency — ability to read and operate a cardiac monitor, recognize rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions.
- Graduate of an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited nursing program; licensed in the state of Illinois.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required through American Heart Association and must be maintained while in this position.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as appropriate for population served.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification within 6–12 months of hire.
