The Automation Engineer is responsible for the development, specification, and industrialization of automated manufacturing equipment in collaboration with external suppliers and internal engineering functions. The role ensures that automation solutions are technically robust, scalable, and aligned with production requirements, from concept through pilot implementation to serial production.
Main Responsibilities- Define automation concepts and machine specifications based on product and process requirements
- Act as technical interface to suppliers, including design reviews and technical decision‑making
- Lead/support equipment realization and validation (FAT/SAT)
- Develop and implement pilot systems, ensuring validation of process capability and performance
- Support transfer to serial production and standardization across sites
- Drive performance improvements (cycle time, OEE, scrap)
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure end‑to‑end industrialization readiness
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automation, equipment development, or system integration
- Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience with machine builders and industrial environments
- Knowledge of PLC/robotics, vision systems, FAT/SAT, and manufacturing KPIs (OEE, cycle time, yield)
- Experience in Injection Molding is a plus
- Fluent in written and spoken German
- Hands‑on experience in product development from ideation to launch in the Medical Device Industry
