Role OverviewThe Head of Ready to Operate will develop and train the Operations and Maintenance organization to safely and sustainably run the future CO₂ value chain in conjunction with existing cement facilities. This includes developing structures, ensuring SOPs and procedures, defining tools and training, and integrating Plant of the Future requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Set up the commissioning structure and teams.
- Support the CCUS teams in integrating this strategy into the country’s CCUS project.
- Ensure cost‑effective implementation and act as the design authority for Operation and Maintenance for CCUS projects.
- Contribute to the evaluation and promotion of plant‑of‑the‑future applications and use of digital tools.
- Develop contracts for Operation and Maintenance support for new assets and set performance criteria for vendors.
- Conduct pre‑startup safety reviews (PSSR), HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL audits, and test critical safety interlocks prior to energisation.
- Validate certification for the start‑up of operations (RFSU) and provisional acceptance tests.
- Ensure reporting structures and systems demonstrate compliance with environmental permitting requirements.
- Define future Operations and Maintenance requirements across the entire CO₂ value chain, including cement plant operations.
- Manage and structure the preparation of future Operations and Maintenance requirements.
- Design future Operations and Maintenance organisations corporately and in-country.
- Develop the ready‑to‑operate organisation in CCUS‑CAPEX.
- Define minimum design requirements/criteria for CCUS projects from an Operations and Maintenance perspective.
- Coach country teams to achieve high uptime and minimal cost.
- Set up structures for flawless commissioning and start‑up.
- Define continuous improvement structures (key KPIs) to capture lessons learned.
- Develop training programmes, including Operator Training Simulator.
- Build the Holcim CCUS Academy.
- 5‑10 years of Operations and Maintenance experience, ideally in gas plants; cement plant experience is an advantage.
- Experience in an Operating and Maintenance Management role (e.g., Plant Manager).
- Good understanding of KPIs and their impact on EBITA.
- Deep knowledge of Operations and Maintenance requirements.
- Deep understanding of gas processing facilities, process safety, pressurised equipment, cryogenic equipment, rotating equipment, and industrial maintenance strategies.
- Forward‑thinking and ability to envision new business/operations environments.
