Musical Assistant to Choir Director

The Zurich Opera House is seeking a full-time musical assistant to the choir director starting February 1, 2027, or by agreement. The role involves accompanying choir rehearsals for the opera choir, extra choirs, and children's choirs on the piano, as well as organizing and conducting rehearsals for new choir members. The assistant will lead shared choir rehearsals from the piano, accompany choir auditions, and communicate with candidates regarding their repertoire.

Additional responsibilities include conducting the choir during rehearsals and performances as needed, and supporting the choir direction with various musical tasks.

Candidates should have a solid background in piano performance and experience in choir conducting. Strong piano skills, particularly in accompaniment and sight-reading, are essential, along with the ability to read scores confidently. Ideally, applicants will have professional experience in an opera or choir setting and a deep musical understanding, along with a passion for working with choirs. Proficiency in German is required for both spoken and written communication.
