In the Bachelor Film program, students learn and experience how a film is made – from the initial idea to the screening. They explore filmmaking in all its facets to enter the professional world after their studies or deepen their skills in one of the majors in the master’s program:
Fiction Directing, Documentary Film, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Film Editing, or Creative Producing. At the bachelor level, training in Production Design is also offered. New interdisciplinary formats lasting six weeks take place at the beginning of each academic year.
As of August 1, 2026, we are looking for a fixed-term position for three years for a teaching assistant postproduction, 60%.
Teaching Assistant Postproduction, 60%You will support the Technical Management Postproduction as well as the lecturers in preparing and conducting courses and assist students with technical and workflow-related questions in postproduction.
During the semester (early September – end of June), two to three days of presence per week with working hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. are the norm. The start of the academic year (early September – early October), January, and the end of the academic year (early May – end of June) are usually busy and require increased presence (sometimes up to five days per week).
This overtime can be compensated later in the year or during the summer months. Parallel to the employment at ZHdK, it should be possible to pursue your own professional and artistic activities.
- Technical advice and support for students on questions related to editing, postproduction workflows, and data management
- Support of lecturers in teaching, technical exercises, and exams in the area of editing and postproduction
- Creation, testing, and dispatch of screening and evaluation copies (DCP etc.) for festivals and internal presentations
- Technical preparation and supervision of screening situations in Kino Toni (Dolby Media Server)
- Documentation, archiving, and maintenance of student works in the internal file and media archive as well as on the website
- Creation, maintenance, and updating of written instructions, handouts, and video tutorials on work steps in the postproduction process
- Preparation, editing, and export of test materials, exercises, and teaching examples
- Support for teaching events as well as research and communication projects
- Support of data handling in the admission process for bachelor and master
You have recently completed your training or studies in the field of film. You have solid knowledge in postproduction and editing and have already gained practical experience in professional film workflows (e.g., as an editing assistant). Very good knowledge of common editing and postproduction software, especially Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve, is required. You have a good understanding of film production processes as well as technical competence in handling digital film files, especially in the areas of evaluation and archiving.
