Location: Zürich
Senior Manufacturing / Process Engineer (100%) Your responsibilities
Responsible for the development and optimization of precision assembly and alignment processes. Manage and execute design transfer and equipment validation activities for new product introductions.
- Ownership for an optimum and well‑equipped production infrastructure / workplaces and efficient assembly, alignment and inspection processes for producing our low‑volume high‑technology optical modules
- Lead and collaborate with a small team of process engineers that define, develop, build, validate, and constantly optimize the production system and can also build small prototype series
- Define, lead, and successfully execute design transfer and cost down projects in Operations with full budget, deliverable, and timeline responsibility
- Execute lifecycle management activities (after transfer to production) to assure their value to our customers, to cope with component obsolescence and to adapt production capabilities and capacities as needed
- Collaborate with Sales, Program Management, and Procurement in defining the assembly offering and estimating and quoting the manufacturing engineering service, investment and product cost required to realize it
- Cooperate with R&D and Procurement to define supply chain and production concepts early during product engineering and to ensure cost‑effective design for manufacturing and assembly
- Realize operational excellence in the build‑up and ramp‑up part of the design transfer process together with your team, R&D and Purchasing and validate the production processes according to the IVD regulatory requirements in collaboration with Quality & Regulatory
- Your entrepreneurial thinking drives for results to achieve high first pass yield, low cost, on‑time delivery, and other key metrics
- 8+ years of experience in low‑volume high‑precision manufacturing engineering, ideally in OEM IVD and medical industry with experience in a project or team leader position
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline (FH), preferably after an apprenticeship in Automation, Mechatronics, or Polymechanic
- Experience in the production or development of medical or IVD products to ISO
13485 standard or experience in a similar highly regulated environment. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English
- Excellence focused and hands‑on business mentality with strong leadership and team player skills to achieve optimum results, create impact and motivate the small team
- Proven record in managing the build‑up of production and inspection equipment and processes in a regulatory environment with high quality standards
- Strong analytical, conception and problem‑solving skills with the ability to plan, organize and supervise execution
- Aptitude for working with people and very high level of social competence.
- Pronounced self‑motivation and commitment in connection with a strong sense of responsibility, quality and reliability
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen
