Senior Mechanical Engineer – Waste Handling Systems Equipment & Packages Engineering

As part of our waste‑to‑X technology team, you will contribute to transforming waste into energy, heat, hydrogen, fertilizer, and other valuable outputs. You will work directly with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to deliver project milestones.

• Execute waste handling lots, managing cost, quality and schedule under the guidance of the Equipment & Packages Engineering Manager.
• Coordinate and deliver Concept and Basic Engineering, including internal and external interface management.
• Prepare technical specifications for procurement packages (waste reception, storage, feeding systems, waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, and related equipment).
• Select suppliers, evaluate offers and place purchase orders on time.
• Expedite suppliers during detailed engineering, handling documentation control, inspections, and FATs.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with procurement, arrangement planning, civil, electrical, and process departments.
• Clarify interfaces across disciplines and plant lots.
• Provide installation and commissioning support, troubleshoot during project execution and operation, and transfer knowledge (standardization and lessons learned).

• Strong process and product knowledge in waste handling systems.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (FH/ETH or technical university).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in industrial plant engineering.
• Experience with crane systems (waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, bulk material handling, grab cranes preferred).
• Background in Energy from Waste, power generation, or heavy industry advantageous.
• Experience in supplier management, procurement of complex systems, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience in project execution, supplier coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems in plant engineering.
• Fluent English;
  German an advantage, willingness to travel internationally (supplier visits, FATs, site support).
