Banking Operations Manager
The Context:
Porters is building the AI-native backoffice for banks and fintechs, moving from manual case handling to exception-only handling. As we scale, we need a specialist who understands the intricate mechanics of Banking Operations teams and their processes to ensure our platform remains compliant, efficient, and bulletproof while pushing the boundaries of what automated Banking Ops can achieve.
Mission: You will be the architect of operational excellence and the human "fail‑safe" for our high‑stakes banking processes. Your mission is to take radical ownership of the outcomes of our Banking Ops processes, acting as the critical link between fintech clients, regulatory authorities, and our engineering teams. You won’t be "processing cases" but you will be help fine‑tune the "Action Engine," identifying operational risks, and leveraging our AI capabilities to turn manual workflows into scalable, automated masterpieces that maintain a perfect balance of speed and regulatory precision.
This job is in person (Zurich, Switzerland) or remote (CET +/-3 hours).
Your responsibilities- Manage and take hands‑on ownership of tasks related to banking operations processes (e.g., seizures / Pfändungen), insolvencies, or similar in line with internal controls as well as regulatory frameworks
- Act as a key point of contact for our fintech and bank clients as well as external stakeholders (e.g., authorities)
- Be an active contributor to improving our product, internal operating procedures, pushing automation to the next level using our AI capabilities
- Proactively identify operational risks, put controls in place, and maintain documentation
- Monitor KPIs (case volumes, SLA adherence, exception rates) and provide actionable insights to our clients and internal teams
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on relevant regulations
- Plan and prioritize workload radically for yourself and junior team members
- 3+ years of experience in banking operations incl. seizures, insolvencies or similar
- Experience working in fintechs or banks in Germany, Switzerland, UK, France, or the Netherlands
- Strong ownership mindset and a bias for action
- Superior analytical skills and problem‑solving abilities
- Stellar communication skills, not shying away from proactively engaging with people
- English (mandatory) and German (mandatory, B2 or above)
