Team/Role OverviewCiti is seeking a Senior Trade Finance Sales Manager bases in Zurich to lead client development and revenue growth across Switzerland-based multinationals and their global subsidiaries. This is a high-impact, client-facing role that combines active origination with strategic relationship management across complex, multi-geography mandates. In this position, you will shape and execute the sales strategy for the Swiss market, driving Citi's trade finance franchise forward through new client opportunities, mandate expansion, and senior-level partnership with some of the world's most prominent multinational corporations.
Whatyou’ll do
- Lead the development and execution of tailored trade finance and working capital sales strategies across the Swiss client base, delivering against revenue targets and expanding Citi's market presence.
- Originate and convert new-to-bank and new-to-trade opportunities through proactive outreach, structured pipeline management, and close coordination with corporate banking and coverage teams.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers at existing and prospective multinational clients, positioning Citi as a trusted financial partner across complex, multi-geography mandates.
- Engage clients across a broad suite of solutions — including letters of credit, guarantees, receivables finance, and supply chain finance — structuring proposals that address their specific liquidity and working capital requirements.
- Track portfolio revenues and pipeline performance against targets, using wallet assessment analysis to surface new opportunities and reduce client attrition.
- Partner with Product Management, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure competitive product positioning, seamless deal execution, and full regulatory adherence.
- Uphold rigorous standards of risk assessment and governance in all client and business decisions, acting in accordance with Citi's Code of Conduct and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Relevant experience in financial services, with a sustained track record of sales performance in trade finance and/or working capital solutions.
- Demonstrated experience managing senior client relationships and executing complex transactions across multi-geography and multi-stakeholder mandates.
- In-depth knowledge of trade finance products and structures, including letters of credit, guarantees, receivables finance, and supply chain finance.
- Strong commercial and analytical capabilities, with experience engaging in credit approval processes and risk discussions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, client-ready proposals.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in German, French, or Italian would be an advantage, given the multilingual nature of the Swiss market.
- Familiarity with the Swiss multinational corporate landscape and the specific treasury and trade challenges these clients face.
- Experience operating within a global banking environment across cross-functional or cross-border teams.
