OpportunityMission critical workflows in the financial industry are developed using Daml and run on the Canton ledger and the Canton Network. The Canton security team’s mission is to ensure the security of the Canton ledger by conducting security reviews, mitigating known threats, and delivering security-critical features. In addition the team raises awareness of security in general, educates software developers on security topics, and coordinates security work across different teams.
As a security researcher in the Canton team you have the unique opportunity to work on the security of a novel distributed ledger system that runs mission critical workflows with demanding security requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Perform security reviews of the Canton architecture, implementation, and protocol design.
- Perform pentests against Canton APIs and deployments.
- Mitigate known threats as well as guide engineers in finding and resolving security issues.
- Conduct security and threat modeling by documenting security requirements, trust models, threat analyses, and mitigations.
- Define and implement security testing such as fuzzing, security regression tests, and/or model-based testing.
- Collaborate on security topics with other teams working on Daml and the Canton Network.
- Plan and shepherd external security audits.
- Raise awareness and educate engineers on security topics.
- Experienced security researcher or information security engineer as demonstrated by analysing complex production systems or open-source software.
- Ideally experience with distributed systems, blockchains, security protocols, and/or cryptography.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, ideally experienced writing technical documentation and educating other engineers.
- Software engineering experience with developing and deploying production systems.
- Collaborative approach to work on security topics across teams and with different stakeholders.
- Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related discipline; or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Based in Switzerland (preferred), the UK, or Hungary.
