Senior AI Engineer

Join a fast-growing AI startup in Switzerland that is building production-grade LLM and generative AI solutions for enterprise and mission-critical environments.

They are looking to hire a Senior AI Engineer / LLM Specialist to join their Zurich-based team, focused on evaluating, fine-tuning, and ope rationalising large language models within real-world AI products.

This is a highly technical role where you will work closely with AI, product, and infrastructure teams to bring cutting‑edge language models into scalable production environments.

• Designing and maintaining evaluation frameworks for LLM performance, reliability, and safety
• Building automated testing suites, benchmark datasets, and model evaluation pipelines
• Improving LLM behaviour through prompt engineering, fine‑tuning, and experimentation
• Working with open‑source and commercial LLMs to optimise quality, latency, and cost
• Supporting deployment and operationalisation of AI models into production systems
• Collaborating with software and infrastructure engineers on AI integrations and backend services
• Implementing guardrails, output validation, and hallucination reduction strategies
• Monitoring model performance and contributing to MLOps and model lifecycle management

• 3-5+ years of experience within AI, Machine Learning, or Applied NLP Engineering
• Strong practical experience working with LLMs in production environments
• Experience with PyTorch and/or Tensor Flow
• Experience with prompt engineering, evaluation pipelines, or fine‑tuning workflows
• Exposure to RAG systems, agentic workflows, or AI tooling frameworks is highly beneficial
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, APIs, and scalable deployment environments
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership

• Based in Zurich with a hybrid working model (2 days onsite per week)
• High‑impact environment with direct exposure to cutting‑edge AI technologies
